Denise Delaney is originally from Mountrath, Co. Laois and comes from a farming background. Her love of nature and natural therapies came from both her parents. Her Dad had a farm at the base of Ard Erin in the Sliabh Blooms mountains. And her Mum was kindness personified. From a very early age Denise was interested in meditation and healing.
In 1984 she began working as a clerical officer in the Eastern health Board, and was based in Grangegorman psychiatric hospital in Dublin. She worked directly with patients and clients and was also an active volunteer with the Mental Health Association. She undertook studies in psychiatric nursing.
In 1989 she moved to San Francisco where she studied Acupressure, Shiatsu, Jin Shi Do, Tuina and Reflexology. In 1991 she obtained an Acupressure Diploma with the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, approved by the State of California.
On returning to Ireland, she took up studies in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and in 1995 graduated with a Diploma in Acupuncture from the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland (AFI).
Denise then moved to Brussels and set up her own clinic in 1995. During that time, she completed courses in Californian massage, Foot Reflexology, Pregnancy massage, Manual Lymphatic drainage (Dr. Vodder Method), Iridology, Reiki levels 1 and 2 in the Usui system of healing.
She successfully completed a 3-year course in Chinese Dietary Therapy with the Henri Chenot Institute.
Denise also practices Thai Yoga Massage which she first studied in 1998 at the Kathmandu Centre of Healing in Nepal. She then received private tuition from Chaiyuth Pryasith, one of Thailand’s most respected masters of Traditional Thai massage, over the course of several prolonged periods in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
From 2007 to 2008, Denise undertook post-graduate clinical practice in Traditional Chinese Medicine at China Nanjing International Training Centre sponsored by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She obtained a Licentiate in Acupuncture.
While in Nanjing, she received individual training from some of China’s most renowned doctors in acupuncture, tuina, cosmetic acupuncture, abdominal acupuncture and weight-loss acupuncture.
In 2010, she was awarded a post-graduate diploma in Traditional Chinese Herbalism (with Distinction) with the Acupuncture Foundation, Dublin.
In 2011, Denise was awarded a Master of Science (MSc) in Traditional Chinese Medicine (with Merit) from Middlesex University, London, U.K. Her research dissertation investigated the effectiveness of acupuncture and massage for chronic, non-specific low-back pain.
In recent years she has done many massage courses, including Thai table massage and massage for cancer care. In acupuncture she has done Acupuncture Balance Method with Dr. Tan, Acupuncture for conception and IVF with Jane Lyttleton, as well as herbalism and Qi Gong courses with renowned Daoist master Dr Jeffrey Yuen.
In 2025 Denise has been working 30 years full-time as an acupuncturist/herbalist/massage therapist. She is constantly busy updating her skills and her passion and love for her work and clients only increases with time.
